English High School (sixth) opens.

Architect: Edward Tedesco. It is located at 78 Avenue Louis Pasteur. The high-rise building is the first new high school built in the city since 1934 (2/3 of all school buildings were built before 1913). English merges with Jamaica Plain High and moves to its current location (seventh) at on McBride Street in 1989.*
